Is the coast clear? Are the turkeys out of the way?
CAN I TALK ABOUT THE OTHER HOLIDAYS NOW?
Don't get me wrong, I love Thanksgiving and do my best to save all the Santa/Menorah chatter for AFTER turkey day has come and gone. But now that the stuffing is digested and the leftovers gone in the form of sandwiches? It's holiday time.
By far the most accessible, festive and free activity for any evening? The Circle of Lights in downtown Indianapolis. You could make it a romantic evening of dinner and a carriage ride around the circle or you could make it a girls night with shopping at Circle Center Mall and coffee or cocktails. Going with your family? Try a fun dinner at Jillian's or The Old Spaghetti Factory, follow it up with a walk up the stairs under the lights and finish it off with hot chocolate from the Chocolate Cafe.
My husband's family, who lived several hours from a big city, always booked a hotel around Christmastime, had a special place where they ate dinner, took a night walking around the lights downtown and then spent the next day shopping. A tradition I've never complained about being involved in. For a list of Indianapolis hotels and of all the restaurants Indianapolis has to offer check with visitindy.com. Some are even offering special Indianapolis vacation packages for the holidays.
Consider this the first of many posts from all of us at the ICVA where you can just imagine the jingle bells in the background.
