So who do you think will steal the show for best costume this year? Well I'm going to say the IBC has my vote this year. :)
Check out what they have going on this Halloween season:
The Indiana Ballet Company (IBC) will raise some spirits on Halloween night, as it bids farewell to its three-year Phantom phenomenon. As the original creation of Alyona Yakovleva, Phantom of the Opera launched this artistic director's particular talent for rendering ballet into a dramatic art. Since its inception three years ago, the production has become an old and successful friend to this young company. However, despite its growing popularity, Yakovleva and her artistic partners have decided to retire the show to make way for a season of new surprises in 2010-2011.
Phantom of the Opera - In this contemporary version of the 1912 novel, Yakovleva, the Indiana Ballet Company's founding artistic director, transcends clichés with original and electrifying choreography, ranging in style from classical ballet through contemporary and character. A seamless blending of diverse musical genres sweeps the narrative along with selections from Apocalyptica, Vanessa Mae, Shostakovich, Arvo Part, Carl Orff, Manuel de Falla, Chopin and Piazzolla. (oh my!)
Three Showtimes at the Madame Walker Theater Center:
Friday - 10/30 @ 7:30 PM
Saturday - 10/31 @ 2:00 PM
Saturday - 10/31 @ 7:30 PM
To celebrate its success, and to send the production out in style, the company is partnering with Zing Restaurant to create a Phantom Farewell costume party with the cast at 9:00 p.m., following the final performance.
The Conrad Hotel in downtown Indianapolis has reserved a block of rooms for the evenings of the Phantom of the Opera performances, October 30, 2009 - November 1, 2009, with a special discounted room rate of $109 for all Phantom attendees! Enjoy the show and make a night of it! (Use the promo code "IBC")
May your Halloween be full of <safe> festive and fabulous fun!
