Indianapolis is always growing and evolving. That’s why I love this city so much. There’s always something new and exciting taking place. From the construction of Lucas Oil Stadium to the news that Indianapolis will be hosting the 2012 Super Bowl, something new and exciting is always happening here. But a really cool Indianapolis event that is coming up on Thursday, November 12th at 9 p.m. is Indianapolis’ 7th Pecha Kucha event. It’s an event that brings together ten groups of Indianapolis’ brightest minds to help make this city a more inspiring and unique one. PK Night in Indianapolis will take place at The Tobias Theater at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. It is put on by Pecha Kucha Indianapolis, the Spirit and Place Festival and the Central Indiana Community Foundation. Here is how it works:
Ten groups were selected to present their idea of what will make Indianapolis a more inspiring and all-around better place. Each group will present 20 PowerPoint slides, each slide with a time limit of 20 seconds. There will be a panel of well-known Indianapolis city planners in attendance to determine the winner of a $10,000 grand prize based off of what they deem to be the most feasible and beneficial idea. Along with the money, the winners will have access to a group of the city’s brightest thinkers to help make their dream a reality.
But here is the fun part…during the Pecha Kucha presentations there will be a lot going on. On the opposite side of the presenters there will be a fully stocked bar (getting better already, right?) You will be all that stands between the presenters and the bar, leaving you to decide which one will get your attention. If you think the presentation is boring, you are encouraged to head on over to the bar, get a drink and chit chat (chit chat in Japanese coincidentally means Pecha Kucha.) But if you're engaged by the presentation, stick around and see what it is all about. And don’t worry about being rude. Drinking and socializing are all a part of the event. But choose wisely because you never know, you might be missing out on the next big thing in Indianapolis.

So let’s recap all of the important details:
What: Pecha Kucha Indianapolis aka the birthplace of the city of Indianapolis’ next big idea
When: Thursday, November 12 at 9 pm
Where: The Tobias Theater at the IMA
Cost: FREE (except for the cash bar)
So if you are looking for things to do in Indianapolis, PK Night is a great event for you to network, get involved and be a part of Indianapolis' future.
